The Ultimate Family Holiday Checklist: Items You Need To Pack
You've finally booked a family holiday, and you're pumped to spend quality time with loved ones. You're probably looking forward to the Bali Massages, Cancun beaches, or maybe checking out the sights in Europe during your trip. But before you even think about what clothes to pack for your adventure, it's important to make sure you have these seven items on hand
What to Pack
Assuming you will be traveling with young children, it is important to pack items that will keep them occupied during the long car ride or flight and of course once you arrive at your final destination. Books, small toys, and travel games are all good options. You should also pack snacks and drinks for the kids, as well as any medications they take on a regular basis. For yourself, be sure to pack any electronics you may need, along with their chargers. Big tip is to make sure you make a spare change of clothes in hand luggage just in case you have to change on the plane (thank-you kids!) And finally, don't forget to pack your Kip & Boo PJ’s!
Packing Tips
Packing for a family holiday can be daunting, but it doesn't have to be! By following these packing tips, you can be sure that you and your family will have everything you need for a great trip.
First, make a list of everything you'll need to pack. This may seem obvious, but it's important to get everyone in the family involved in the process so that no one forgets anything important. Once you have your list, start making Packs. Each Pack should have a specific purpose, such as "clothes," "toiletries," or "beach gear." This will help you stay organized and prevent you from packing too much or forgetting something important. We love the travel cubes from Luxe Packer (luxepacker.com.au) super cute.
Next, start packing the heavy items first. This will help balance your suitcase and make it easier to carry. Be sure to pack any essential items, such as medications, change of clothes and travel documents, in your carry-on bag so that they're always within reach.
Toiletries
Toiletries are an important part of any holiday, but especially a family holiday. Here is a list of items you need to pack to make sure your family has a great time:
-Toilet paper (always good to pack a roll just in case…)
-Baby wipes – perfect even if you don’t have baby for dirty hands, wiping food off clothes
-Rubbish bags – highly recommend the dog poop bags they are perfect size for nappies / dirty tissues etc
- Shampoo & Conditioner
- Soap – sample size liquid soap is always handy
- Toothpaste & toothbrush
- Deodorant
- Sunscreen
- Insect repellent (if you’re going to a mossie hotspot)
Clothes
Assuming you will be gone for more than a day or two, you will need to pack clothes for everyone in the family. Here are some things to keep in mind:
- Seasonality: What time of year is it? Will you need warm clothing, or can you get away with packing only light items?
- Activities: What will you be doing on your trip? Will you need special clothing or gear for any activities? For example, if you are planning to hike, you will need sturdy shoes and breathable clothes.
- Weather: Check the forecast before you leave so you know what to expect weather-wise. This way, you can pack accordingly.
Some essential clothing items to pack regardless of the season or activity include:
- Knickers, bras and socks
- T-shirts, tops, dresses, jeans, pants, shorts, skirt
- Kip & Boo pyjamas & eye-mask
Toys and Activities for Kids
Assuming you will be traveling with young children, it is important to pack items to keep them entertained. Below are some suggested toys and activities:
-Toys: Pack a few of your child’s favourite toys from home. New toys may also be a good idea to keep them occupied during the trip. Be sure to pack enough so that they don’t get bored or fights don’t break out over who gets to play with what. We love wrapping some little toys so they can unwrap on the plane. Keeps them excited a little longer
-Activities: Again, consider your child’s age and interests when packing activities. Some activity ideas include colouring books and crayons, travel games, a small ball, and cards.
Tech Gear
No matter where you’re going on holiday, there are certain items you always need to bring with you. This is especially true when it comes to tech gear. After all, you need to stay connected while you’re away from home. Here are some essential items to pack for your next family holiday:
-Chargers for all of your devices
-Power board so can plug all your devices in and only need one travel power adapter
-An extra battery or power bank
-Your camera and any accessories
-A portable speaker
-Headphones
Last but not least, don’t forget to pack your sense of adventure! By packing these essential items, you’ll be sure to stay connected and have a great time on your next family holiday.
